3 Gentofte Artists in "Skinless Honest"

Three Gentofte artists, Charlotte Tønder, Tina Hee and Sara Legind-Hansen, have done with their project “Hudløs Ærlig” – an exhibition of collaborative paintings created with breasts as a working tool.
“We got to know each other in connection with the art route “Open Doors” in Gentofte. One day we agreed that we would put each other to the test. It had to be something none of us had tried before, and soon the idea was born,” says Sara Legind-Hansen.
It was the start of a three-month process that resulted in a series of works that clearly reflect the attributes of the three women.
The goal was to break their own boundaries and unite their genres and styles on the same canvases, and according to Tina Hee, she has succeeded very well. This is partly because the breast prints add a fun and different texture to the painting. But also because it gives a double meaning to the exhibition’s title “Skinless Honest”. The three women expose themselves both physically and artistically.
“The exhibition is also a commentary on today’s restricted society, where young people don’t dare to swim with each other after sports, for example, and a topless woman on the beach is almost frowned upon. There are so many taboos and embedded cultural views associated with the female body in particular, and showing nudity is often seen as a provocation, so we’re probably also making a small provocation here,” says Sara Legind-Hansen.
