Bronze Sculpture of the Femme Verte

The bronze sculpture *Femme Verte* is an elegant bronze figure of a woman with a truly unique history.

There is only one of her in existence, and this particular sculpture has been on a longer journey than most. During the casting process, challenges arose that required extensive welding and many hours of finishing work. She didn’t turn out the way I had first imagined—she became something completely different. Something stronger.

I decided to call her Femme Verte —the green woman.

What makes her most special is her patina.

I usually patinate bronze using copper nitrate and heat to create the classic green surface. But this sculpture came about purely by chance.

One winter day, she was standing outside next to a plastic container of road salt. Rain, snow, frost, and salt slowly worked together for more than a month. Nature quietly and gradually created the most beautiful green patina I have ever seen.

I could never have planned for this outcome.

It is nature’s own creation.

That’s why Femme Verte means something very special to me. She reminds me that not all art can be controlled—sometimes the most beautiful things emerge from the interplay between craftsmanship and chance.

A Living Bronze

Bronze is one of the most exclusive materials used in sculpture casting.

The material has a deep luster, a long lifespan, and ages beautifully over the years.

The sculpture can be placed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoors, the bronze will continue to evolve, gradually developing its surface as it interacts with the weather.
